  • NR 19-019: Nashville District working to reassign Lock C to Fort Campbell

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 29, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is in the process of supplementing the Lake Barkley Master Plan reclassifying the Lock C site in Montgomery County, Tenn., from “Multiple Resource Management – Low Density Recreation” to “Multiple Resource Management – Future/Inactive Recreation Area.” This designation would allow the Corps of Engineers to reassign the area to the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Campbell, Ky.

  • NR 17-037: Corps of Engineers working on engineering design for slope failure

    LOYALL, Ky. (Oct. 4, 2017) – Engineering efforts by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District are ongoing to design a repair for the slope failure near Wix Howard Cemetery in Loyall, Ky. and prevent any future movement. The design is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.

  • NR 14-011: Closure of Bell Road scheduled at J. Percy Priest Dam

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 15, 2014) – Bell Road is closing at J. Percy Priest Dam from 7 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Friday between June 2 and July 11 while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District replaces the spillway gate chains and performs routine maintenance, which is required every five years. The roadway will be open on weekends over the duration of the work.

  • NR-040: Nashville District provides info on how government shutdown is affecting operations

    The Nashville District is in the process of conducting an orderly shutdown because of a lack of appropriations. The district will reduce its manpower over time to essential personnel only. These essential personnel will continue to support critical Corps of Engineers missions such as dam safety, hydropower, and operation of the navigation locks on both the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. The Corps is funded through multiple-year funding, which is enabling the Nashville District to conduct limited operations and construction through the course of the government shutdown. As the lapse in appropriations continues, we will have more employees furloughed over time, but will maintain our mission essential personnel to ensure the operation and protection of corps facilities and property.

  • NR 13-028: Corps offering public tours of Martins Fork Dam

    SMITH, Ky. (July 15, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering public tours of Martins Fork Dam here Saturday, July 27 and Aug. 17, 2013. Visitors can choose from a 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. tour time. Guided tours of the structure are free to the public and are approximately 45 minutes in length.

  • NR 13-021: Corps of Engineers initiates scoping under National Environmental Policy Act

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 14, 2013) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces it is initiating scoping under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to evaluate measures and alternatives for a flood damage reduction study for the Swannanoa River Watershed near Asheville, N.C.

  • NR 13-018: Corps now accepting registration applications for Old Hickory Lock, Dam tours

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (June 4, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District at Old Hickory Lake is now accepting registration applications for the Saturday, June 29 open house tours beginning at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Old Hickory Lock and Dam. Free to the public and approximately 60 minutes in length, the guided tours will allow guests to have an up close view of Old Hickory Lake’s Navigation Lock and Powerhouse facilities.

  • NR 13-017: Old Hickory Lake opens its doors to tours of Old Hickory Lock, Dam

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (May 15, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Old Hickory Lake is offering free guided public tours of the Old Hickory Lake’s Navigation Lock and Powerhouse 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday May 25, June 29, July 20, Aug. 10 and Aug. 25. The tours are approximately one hour in length.

  • NR 13-014: Nashville District managing Cumberland after April 27 rain event

    NASHVILLE, TENN. (April 28, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Water Management staff is responding to the effects of heavy rainfall in areas of the lower Cumberland River Basin and managing the release of water from dams throughout the Cumberland Basin.

  • NR 13-013: Bear Creek Road construction contract awarded

    NASHVILLE, TENN. (April 23, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District awarded a $12 million contract for the Bear Creek Road Phase II Construction and Potable Waterline Relocation to Avisco, Inc., of Oak Ridge, Tenn., on April 19, 2013.
