The NWS Nashville Weather Forecast Office (WFO) works closely with the NWS Ohio River Forecast Center to develop flood forecasts and issue flood warnings. These forecasts predict water levels at established points along the Cumberland River and many of its tributaries by using a combination of observed weather and river conditions, rainfall predictions, and the Nashville District’s water management decisions.

The USGS coordinates closely with the Nashville District to provide long term resource monitoring of the region found within the Cumberland River Basin. This includes: research, data collection, data analysis, modeling, and decision support.
