NASHVILLE, TENN. (April 23, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District awarded a $12 million contract for the Bear Creek Road Phase II Construction and Potable Waterline Relocation to Avisco, Inc., of Oak Ridge, Tenn., on April 19, 2013.
The contract is part of the work to be performed for the Uranium Processing Facility Site Readiness Subproject. The contractor will be constructing approximately 4,000 feet of two-lane roadway, a bridge and adjacent potable waterlines in order to prepare the site of the new UPF at Y-12 in Oak Ridge. Construction will begin in June and is scheduled for completion in September 2014.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is providing acquisition and construction management assistance to the U.S. Department of Energy for the UPF project at the Y-12 site.
