    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2020) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of the Right Bank Recreation Area Beach at Cheatham Lake in Ashland City, Tennessee, due to elevated levels of Escherichia coli (E. Coli.). The area is still open for picnicking and boat launching.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 7, 2020) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is extending its closure of 25 Corps-managed campgrounds within the Cumberland River Basin in Kentucky and Tennessee through at least May 31 in the interest of public safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • NR 19-045: Ashland City to close Bull Run Recreation Area

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2019) – Bull Run Recreation Area on the Cumberland River in Ashland City, Tenn., is scheduled to be permanently closed Oct. 31, 2019. The area is currently a city-operated park leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District.
  • NR 18-014: Public invited for Cheatham Lock, Dam, Powerhouse tour on Cumberland River

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 10, 2018) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District invites the public for a free tour of Cheatham Lock, Dam and Hydropower Plant in Ashland City, Tenn. Free tours for the general public are Saturday, July 21; and Saturday, Sept. 8. Tours of the facility are limited to 45 persons and each tour begins at 11 a.m. Central Time. Pre-registration is required for all tour guests, including minors. The deadline to register is seven business days prior to scheduled tour. Personal information collected during sign-up is used for security background checks.
  • NR 18-004: Expect higher levels, stronger currents on Cumberland River

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announced today that it expects higher levels and flows along the Cumberland River this week due to releases from Corps dams over the next three days, even though the weather is expected to be dry during this time. The dry weather is allowing the Corps to continue regaining storage in upstream reservoirs. The stage at Nashville will rise approximately four feet from a stage of 31 feet to near 35 feet today and remain elevated through midweek. The flow currently at Nashville is more than 40 million gallons of water per minute.
  • NR 18-002: Public workshop rescheduled for Cheatham Lake shoreline management update

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 30, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has rescheduled a public workshop to provide input concerning the Cheatham Lake Shoreline Management Plan five-year review. The workshop is rescheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at the Ashland City Elementary School Library in Ashland City, Tenn. In case of inclement weather, please call the Cheatham Lake Resource Manager’s Office at (615) 792-5697 by 4 p.m. to verify scheduling.
  • NR 18-001: Cheatham Lake shoreline management plan workshop cancelled

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 22, 2018) – Due to the ongoing government shutdown, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is cancelling a public workshop to update the Cheatham Lake Shoreline Management Plan previously scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at the Ashland City Elementary School Library in Ashland City, Tenn. This workshop will be rescheduled at the conclusion of the shutdown.
