    Nashville District garners teacher externship of the year award

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 14, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and Academy of Science and Engineering at Stratford STEM Magnet High School garnered the Externship of the Year Award during the 2014 Academies of Nashville Awards hosted by the chamber of commerce May 12 at Rocketown on 4th Avenue.

    Emergency managers map out New Madrid earthquake preparedness

    JACKSON, Tenn. (May 12, 2014) – Emergency management officials moved pictures and signs, much like game pieces on a large board game, on a 24-by-24 foot floor map of the New Madrid seismic zone May 8, 2014 at the National Guard Armory in Jackson, Tenn. The exercise simulated an emergency response in the event of a major earthquake.

    JAMESTOWN, Tenn. (April 28, 2014) – Park Rangers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and local volunteers from the Lake Cumberland area hosted a group from the Wounded Warrior Outdoors program for a fishing trip and wild turkey hunt at the Lake Cumberland State Park today.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District celebrated Earth Day with thousands of people today during the 13th annual Nashville Earth Day Festival at Centennial Park.

    Corps rangers safeguarding lake boundaries through shoreline management

    HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 21, 2014) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Park Rangers at Old Hickory Lake and Lake Cumberland take pride in their work checking boundary markers, natural environmental protection areas and maintaining environmental wetlands around the Lake Cumberland and Old Hickory lakes.

    Center Hill Dam rehabilitation continues with barrier wall installation

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2014) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s ongoing foundation rehabilitation project at Center Hill Dam is making progress as work crews continue to drill deep into the main dam earthen embankment to install a subsurface concrete wall. The current efforts are the second of three major contracts from 2008 to 2017 that comprise ongoing efforts to rehabilitate Center Hill Dam.
