    Corps employees save tax dollars at Moccasin Bend

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Feb. 27, 2013) – A bank stabilization project on a 1,500-foot stretch along the Tennessee River at Moccasin Bend is nearing completion, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees are saving taxpayer dollars in the process.

    Wilson garners Professional Engineer in Government Award

    NASVHILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s deputy district engineer for Project Management received the 2013 Professional Engineer in Government Award from the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers during the Middle Tennessee All Engineers Banquet Feb. 22, 2013 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel.
  • This is Dale Hollow Dam Feb. 26, 2013. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District electricians at Dale Hollow Dam on the Obey river are working on a Sustainability Program Initiative project to replace the contracted local utility power source to the resource managers office, maintenance shops, and transient quarters with direct power from the Dale Hollow Power House.     JAMESTOWN, Ky. (Jan. 11, 2013) – The commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District promoted a first lieutenant assigned to the Wolf Creek Foundation Remediation Project today during a ceremony at the resident engineer office.

    Employees tune into Hurricane Sandy call for assistance

    Nashville, Tenn. (Dec. 17, 2012) – Hurricane Sandy did not have an effect on Music City, but several Nashville District employees did tune into the immediate call for assistance on the east coast and volunteered to deploy and assist with the recovery effort.

    Corps environmental assessment underway at Center Hill Dam

    LANCASTER, Tenn. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s ongoing major rehabilitation project at Center Hill Dam recently passed an important milestone with the completion of an environmental assessment public and agency review period for the project’s next phase located below the saddle dam.

  • Cheatham Lock closing for repairs Oct. 16 through Nov. 15

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Cheatham Lock will be closed to all river traffic from 6 a.m., Oct. 16, through 6 p.m., Nov. 15, 2012, to permit major maintenance repairs to hydraulic and mechanical equipment damaged during the 2010 flood along with other routine maintenance.

    Work crews reach million-hour safety milestone at Wolf Creek Dam

    JAMESTOWN, Ky. (Aug. 17, 2012) – Construction crews at the Wolf Creek Dam Foundation Remediation Project reached a lofty safety milestone today when the men and women installing a concrete barrier wall deep into the dam’s embankment reached 550 days and one million work-hours on the job without a lost-time accident.
