    This is Dale Hollow Dam Feb. 26, 2013. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District electricians at Dale Hollow Dam on the Obey river are working on a Sustainability Program Initiative project to replace the contracted local utility power source to the resource managers office, maintenance shops, and transient quarters with direct power from the Dale Hollow Power House.     CELINA, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2013) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District electricians at Dale Hollow Dam on the Obey River are plugging into the dam’s power source as part of a sustainability program initiative.

    Cheatham Lock scheduled to reopen after major maintenance repairs

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 15, 2012) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is scheduled to reopen Cheatham Lock 6 p.m., today following a one-month closure for major maintenance repairs to hydraulic and mechanical equipment damaged during the 2010 flood along with other routine maintenance.

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (Nov. 3, 2012) – Cheers and applause were heard from an on looking crowd as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and members from the Friends of Shutes Branch cut the ceremonial ribbon during the Shutes Branch Mountain Bike Trail Grand Opening at Old Hickory Lake.

    EAGLE Class graduation recognizes district’s newest leaders

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 1, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville Districts celebrated the graduation of 16 students for its 2012 Employee Achieving Greatness and Leadership Excellence (EAGLE) class today at the Jack C. Massey Business Center at Belmont University.

    Corps environmental assessment underway at Center Hill Dam

    LANCASTER, Tenn. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s ongoing major rehabilitation project at Center Hill Dam recently passed an important milestone with the completion of an environmental assessment public and agency review period for the project’s next phase located below the saddle dam.

    EAGLE class makes equestrian campground maintenance its mane project

    Granville, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2012) – Upkeep of recreation areas, campgrounds and hiking trails often depends on volunteers who care deeply about the nation’s natural resources and want them to be there for their children and generations to come. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s EAGLE Class learned that important lesson of volunteerism today when they rolled up their sleeves and got their boots dirty at one of Cordell Hull Lake’s primitive horse trail campgrounds.

    Work crews reach million-hour safety milestone at Wolf Creek Dam

    JAMESTOWN, Ky. (Aug. 17, 2012) – Construction crews at the Wolf Creek Dam Foundation Remediation Project reached a lofty safety milestone today when the men and women installing a concrete barrier wall deep into the dam’s embankment reached 550 days and one million work-hours on the job without a lost-time accident.

    Construction begins with ‘first bite’ on foundation barrier wall at Center Hill Dam

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (July 11, 2012) – The “first bite” of a $106 million drilling project to stabilize the earthen portion of the Center Hill Dam with a barrier wall was taken today by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and its contractor, Bauer Foundation Corporation, as the auger of a giant drill rig turned up the first dirt to the cheers of spectators.

    Lake Barkley open house, tours of power plant, lock are well received

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (June 23, 2012)—The first Lake Barkley Resource Management Office Open House and public tours of the Barkley Power Plant and Navigation Lock in nearly 11 years were held today to better inform the public about the benefits these facilities provide to the nation. Public access to these U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District areas had been restricted since the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

    Emergency responders shake out earthquake preparedness, recovery plans

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 27, 2012) – If a major earthquake occurred along the New Madrid Seismic Zone, it would likely result in widespread damage in several states, particularly Tennessee. At an emergency management planning meeting at Tennessee Emergency Management Agency Headquarters, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District led discussions during a New Madrid Planning Workshop to prepare for such a catastrophe.
