    Work crews reach million-hour safety milestone at Wolf Creek Dam

(Aug. 17, 2012) – Construction crews at the Wolf Creek Dam Foundation Remediation Project reached a lofty safety milestone today when the men and women installing a concrete barrier wall deep into the dam’s embankment reached 550 days and one million work-hours on the job without a lost-time accident.

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (July 11, 2012) – The “first bite” of a $106 million drilling project to stabilize the earthen portion of the Center Hill Dam with a barrier wall was taken today by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and its contractor, Bauer Foundation Corporation, as the auger of a giant drill rig turned up the first dirt to the cheers of spectators.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 27, 2012) – If a major earthquake occurred along the New Madrid Seismic Zone, it would likely result in widespread damage in several states, particularly Tennessee. At an emergency management planning meeting at Tennessee Emergency Management Agency Headquarters, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District led discussions during a New Madrid Planning Workshop to prepare for such a catastrophe.
