Cumberland River Aquatic Center flexes its mussels with Corps mitigation dollars
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 22, 2021) – It took 12 years, but a $750,000 mitigation effort culminated in late 2020 that helped the Cumberland River Aquatic Center to propagate mussels and other aquatic species.

Bio-acoustic fish fence expected to be operational this fall
GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (July 30, 2019) – An experimental project designed to deter Asian carp from entering Lake Barkley is underway. Officials addressed stakeholders and media today on the deployment of the bio-acoustic fish fence on the downstream side of the navigation lock and evaluation of the system’s ability to deter the movement of these fish.

Stream restoration underway with Roaring River Dam removal
JACKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (Aug. 1, 2017) – The removal of Roaring River Dam is underway, a multi-organizational stream restoration effort that will reconnect aquatic species and make recreation safer near the low head dam that is at risk of failing and no longer needed as a fish barrier.
