    Park rangers respond to drownings by promoting water safety

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 29, 2023) – Park rangers in Tennessee and Kentucky are stepping up efforts to promote water safety in lieu of 10 tragic drownings already this recreation season at Corps lakes in the Cumberland River Basin.

    Boaters encouraged to visit Corps of Engineers booth at Nashville Boat Show

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 6, 2023) – Boaters are invited to visit booth 002 at the Nashville Boat Show in Music City Center to meet with park rangers who are familiar with Corps of Engineers lakes, dams, locks, recreation areas and campgrounds in the Cumberland River Basin.

    Delnora asks music fans to wear life jackets at Corps Lakes

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 26, 2022) – In a public service announcement featuring her new song “Thankful,” singer and songwriter Delnora Reed is encouraging music fans to wear a life jacket when recreating and boating, which is the number one thing anyone can do to stay safe on the water.

    Sahl becomes 67th commander of Nashville District

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 1, 2021) – Lt. Col. Joe M. Sahl took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District today during a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee National Guard Armory. He becomes the 67th commander of the “twin rivers” district, commonly referred to as the jewel of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.

    Nashville District dams saved $1.8 billion in March flooding

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 15, 2021) – The 10 dams operated by the Corps of Engineers in the Cumberland River Basin prevented an estimated $1.8 billion of flood damages during the late March flood event in the region.
