    Thousands Flock to area Corps Lakes for once in a Lifetime Eclipse

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Thousands of people from across the United States gathered for “Eclipse Mania 2017” on Aug. 21, to catch a glimpse of the total solar eclipse from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers mid-state area lakes and rivers. Visitors from around the country viewed the eclipse at campgrounds, day use areas, along lake shorelines and watched from boats.

    Corps recreation facility managers prepare for another great recreation season

Just like preparing a home, an apartment, or a recreational vehicle for the next season, the key to maintaining facilities at campgrounds is planning.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 17, 2017) – Five engineers from the Ministry of Water Resources at the Mosul Dam project in Iraq and one engineer from Trevi S.p.A., the construction company working on the project, recently completed three weeks of training with a U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Data Management Reach Back Team. They learned about a Nashville District developed Mosul Dam Geographic Information Systems model, the GIS software, and the geology model of Mosul Dam.

    Eagle watchers flock to Dale Hollow Lake for annual tour

    CELINA, Tenn. (Jan. 28, 2017) – Eager sightseers boarded a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers open barge today to explore for American Bald Eagles along the Dale Hollow Lake shoreline. They stared at the tree tops on the horizon for a glimpse of America’s symbol of freedom and learned about how these amazing birds made a comeback to the region in the 1980s.
