NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June. 12, 2015) – Cathy Keith, real estate specialist for the Nashville District, is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Employee of the Month for April 015.
Keith is recognized for her significant contributions to the Center Hill Dam Safety Remediation Project.
Mike Abernathy, Nashville District Real Estate Division chief, said Keith’s efforts included leading the charge by developing and managing the land acquisition plan to acquire all the needed real estate and coordinate the associated land exchange agreements with the State of Tennessee for the project, which includes the construction of a roller compacted concrete berm adjacent to the saddle dam.
“Cathy is most deserving for her award because of the extra effort she puts forth to do well and be the best at her job,” said Abernathy. “Her willingness to make smart decisions, answer questions, and provide assistance to anyone at any time shows her dedication to her profession and the personnel in the district.”
Keith said being recognized is really great but attributes her success to the whole team in the Real Estate Division. She added that she the job has really been rewarding.
“I love the opportunities this job has to offer and the training I have received over the years,” said Keith. “I love my job, the people that work alongside me and I count it a privilege to receive this award. I appreciate a bunch of people that helped me get this award.”
Abernathy added that her commitment and initiative to the Nashville District’s mission makes her an outstanding employee.
“She is a role model employee whose ‘can do’ attitude is an example for others to emulate,” said Abernathy. “Her professionalism, dedication to mission execution, and superior performance is a credit to the Nashville District, the region, and the Corps of Engineers.”
Keith has worked for the Corps six years and loves meeting other employees and people around the district. Abernathy said without Keith's dedication to duty, diligence and determination, this vital project would still be in the planning stages and awaiting approval.
“She did a great job and this project was identified as high-priority among all stakeholders, including the community, state, Congressional and USACE,” said Abernathy.
Ashley Klimaszewski, a supervisory realty specialist in the Real Estate Division, said Keith is well deserving of the award because she is a hard worker, who is friendly, smart, professional and dedicated to helping and exceeding the needs of those she serves.
“She is just great a team player, said Klimaszewski. “One of her best qualities is that she does not get rattled and is always kind and caring. She is well organized, thinks before she reacts, plays a huge role our success in the district and is a good friend to everyone.”
Keith said that one of the keys to her success was having Klimaszewski as mentor and being able to readily adapt to changes and staying consistent.
“My job is different every day and I enjoy working with dedicated employees that have passion for their jobs,” Keith said.

“Her outstanding performance along with her ‘team player’ outlook significantly contributes to a successful year-end execution and ultimately the mission of the district,” said Abernathy.
Keith is married to Greg Keith and they have a dog, Lucy. She is involved in many activities at church when away from the office and loves eating at great restaurants and spending time with family and friends.
Keith’s hobbies include bargain shopping, movies, fitness and eating healthy.
