NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept 7, 2013) – In observance of National Public Lands Day, the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands, the J. Percy Priest Lake team partnered with the Nashville Clean Water Project and a diverse group of willing volunteers to tidy up several areas around the lake.

In just a few hours during a sunny Saturday morning, over 150 individuals collected more than 30 cubic yards of trash and debris from locations around the lake. They also removed several truck loads of non-native invasive plant species from the Anderson Road Campground and Recreation Area.

Volunteers from the Bridgestone Corporation, three busloads of students from Montgomery Bell Academy, and individual volunteers, worked together with J. Percy Priest Lake team members on the various projects.

“The partnerships that have been developed with a diversity of groups continue to benefit the lake and its resources, as well as the millions of people who recreate at J. Percy Priest Lake each year,” said Todd Yann, resource manager.
