Sharon Rader, a legal assistant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Office of Counsel, is the District Employee of the Month for May 2013.
Sharon is recognized for her volunteer efforts that were a large contribution to the success of the 2013 USACE Water Supply conference which Nashville District hosted May 21-23, 2013, according to Bill Woodard, chief counsel.
“She saw a need a week before the conference and volunteered to synchronize the logistics to include coordinating the use of rooms and audio-visual set-ups with ACE-IT, other offices and the storeroom which changed daily,” Woodard said.
“Sharon did the work of three people but made it all seem easy and effortless while cheerfully providing light refreshments and beverages to attendees,” Woodard added.
Serving as a legal assistant to seven attorneys in her usual daily duties gives Sharon a wealth of experience in multi-tasking when faced with differing needs simultaneously, according to Tom Browder, deputy district counsel.
“Sharon’s commitment to Nashville District’s mission was obvious, and her desire for conference attendees from across the Nation to leave Nashville with a good and lasting impression of the district was successful,” said Lt. Col. James A. DeLapp, then district commander.
“Sharon’s performance is an outstanding reflection on her, Nashville District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,” DeLapp added.
Beginning her USACE career in 2004 as a contract employee in the Nashville District Executive Office, Sharon worked in several district offices before finding a home in the Office of Counsel. She was hired by the Corps in 2011, after obtaining her Paralegal Certification.
Sharon and her husband Milton have been married 22 years and live in Smyrna, Tenn. Their son, Jamie, is a sophomore at UT-Knoxville where he is studying Sports Journalism. Their daughter, Marissa, will begin her junior year at Stewarts Creek High School this fall.
