NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 25, 2012) – A technical manager from the operations division is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Employee of the Month for December 2011.
Owen Traughber, a 12-year Corps employee, has served in his current position since 2007, and is a member of the district’s survey team.
In being selected for this award, Corps officials report that Traughber proves himself time and time again and is very effective in managing his assignments and mentoring others in performing his duties.
Recently, he recognized a redundant effort each technical manager was expending while planning their work.
Traughber uses certain weight and elevation information for all maintenance and operational equipment components to effectively plan and execute assignments. On his own initiative, he compiled the pertinent information at each lock project in the Nashville District and published it for field personnel to use. His efforts provided a valuable resource document for future projects. These booklets were available in November 2011 and are being used for planning for fiscal year 2012 dewatering projects.
His supervisors said his efforts show loyalty to his job and selfless service to his co-workers.
“Owen is a role model employee whose ‘can do’ attitude is an example for others to emulate,” said Diane Parks, Operations Division chief. “He combines great technical ability with sound knowledge and decision‐making capabilities. He makes a positive impact on the Nashville District's mission every month.”
