–The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District Park Rangers and staff located at J. Percy Priest Lake are continuing their campaign to enhance, enlighten and help keep kids safe while visiting the lake by participating in the Boat U.S. Foundation

This program, made possible by the Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water, is available for boaters at Poole Knobs Campground, 493 Jones Mill Road, LaVergne, TN., 37086.

The Life Jacket Loaner Program allows boaters to borrow a child’s life jacket for the day or the weekend at no charge to the user. By visiting the Poole Knobs Campground park attendant booth during business hours a family can sign out an infant, child, or youth life jacket for the day and return it to the park attendant after its use.

J. Percy Priest Lake has 12 life jackets for consumers’ use at Poole Knobs campground, and if the program is successful, it may be expanded to include other campgrounds and day use areas.

There are more than 500 boat U.S. Foundation Life Jacket Loaner sites located throughout the United States. All together, these sites loan life jackets more than 90,000 times a year.
