    KUTTAWA, Ky. (Aug. 19, 2016) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Barkley Dam is being moved indoors tomorrow due to the high chance of rain in the forecast. The event will now be held 11 a.m. at the Badget Playhouse Theater located at 1838 J. H. O’Brien Avenue in Grand Rivers, Ky.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 9, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is inviting the public to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Barkley Dam during a ceremony 11 a.m. Aug. 20, 2016 at the Spillway Shelter below the dam. The project is named after the late Alben W. Barkley, attorney, county judge, United States senator, and 35th vice president of the United States.

  • NR-018: Media invited to cover Chickamauga Lock dewatering

    Nashville, Tenn. (July 14, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and Tennessee Valley Authority invites the media to cover the Chickamauga Lock dewatering 1 p.m. July 20, 2016. Subject matter experts from both organizations will be available to discuss the ongoing maintenance at the lock and address other questions about the dam.
  • NR 16-017: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards final rehabilitation construction contract for Center Hill Dam

    Nashville, Tenn. (July 5, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District announces the award of a $42,972,545 contract to Thalle Construction Co., Inc. to build a concrete reinforcing berm downstream of the Center Hill Auxiliary Dam. The contract was awarded on June 27. The work also includes stabilization of a previous rock cut near the main dam.

  • NR 16-015: Military security exercise planned at Old Hickory Dam

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 16, 2016) – As part of one of the largest statewide disaster preparedness exercises in Tennessee state history, the US Army Corps of Engineers is hosting the Tennessee Army National Guard for a military security exercise 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 on the powerhouse side of Old Hickory Dam located in Hendersonville, Tenn. The exercise will facilitate the training and coordination necessary between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, which operates the lock and dam, and the National Guard to secure such a critically important facility. The exercise will have little impact on the operation of project.
  • Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines.
