    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2012) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is enlisting the support of volunteers at its lakes on the Cumberland River and its tributaries for the 19th annual National Public Lands Day Sept. 29.
  • NR 12-036: Cheatham Lock closing for repairs Oct. 16 through Nov. 15

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 6, 2012) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Cheatham Lock will be closed to all river traffic from 6 a.m., Oct. 16 through 6 p.m., Nov. 15, 2012 to permit major maintenance repairs to hydraulic and mechanical equipment damaged during the 2010 flood along with other routine maintenance.
  • NR12-035: Dale Hollow Dam Campground closing Sept. 10, 2012

    CELINA, Tenn. (Sept. 5, 2012) – Dale Hollow Dam Campground and its walking trail are closing 2 p.m. Sept. 10, 2012 for work to repair the river bank, parking lot, walking trail and a campsite damaged by flooding in 2010.
  • NR 12-031: Kendall, Waitsboro campgrounds set for early closure

    SOMERSET, Ky. (Aug. 10, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is closing Kendall and Waitsboro campgrounds at Lake Cumberland earlier than scheduled in 2012 due to internal roadway repairs.
  • NR 12-030: Corps offers tours of Old Hickory Navigation Lock

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (Aug. 9, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering the public free guided tours of the Old Hickory Navigation Lock. These are the first public tours of the lock since visitation was restricted after Sept. 11, 2001.
  • NR 12-028: Corps dedicating new Cordell Hull Lake Resource Manager’s Office

    CARTHAGE, Tenn. (July 16, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is hosting a dedication ceremony for the newly constructed Cordell Hull Lake Resource Manager’s Office 9 a.m. Friday, July 20. The new facility replaces the previous building destroyed in a fire Sept. 26, 2008. The public and media are invited to the 9 a.m. dedication and an open house following the ceremony from 10 a.m. to noon.
  • NR 12-026: Corps offers more Cheatham Dam Power Plant tours

    CHARLOTTE, Tenn. (July 6, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District recently resumed offering public tours of the Cheatham Dam Power Plant and more tours are scheduled July 21, Aug. 18 and Sep. 8, 2012 with tours beginning at noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Public access to these Corps facilities was restricted after September 11, 2001.
  • 12-025: Corps offers more tours of Lake Barkley Power Plant, Lock

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (July 6, 2012)—The first Lake Barkley Open House and public tours of the Barkley Power Plant and Lock in nearly 11 years were held June 23, and more tours are scheduled July 21, Aug. 18 and Sep. 15, 2012 with tours beginning at 9 and 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. Public access to these U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities had been restricted after September 11, 2001.

    SOMERSET, Ky. (July 3, 2012) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Cumberland partnered with Big Lots of Somerset, Ky., June 30 and July 1 to promote water safety.

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (June 28, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering the public free guided tours of the Center Hill Power Plant. These are the first tours of the power plant since the Corps restricted visitation after Sept. 11, 2001.
