    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 5, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the closure of the Left Bank Recreation Area overlook parking lot below Old Hickory Dam in Old Hickory, Tenn., beginning Sunday, June 9, 2019 to replace a culvert in the tailwater area.

  • NR 18-008: Media invited to cover Chickamauga Lock congressional visit

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 3, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and Tennessee Valley Authority invite the media to cover a congressional visit to Chickamauga Lock 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann, U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District, and Congressman Scott DesJarlais, U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 4th Congressional District, are visiting to check on the progress of repairs being completed by the Corps of Engineers Regional Light Fleet to the upper miter gate anchorage of the existing lock, and for an update of the Chickamauga Lock Replacement Project. Subject matter experts will be available to discuss the ongoing maintenance at the lock and address other questions about the on-site work.
  • NR 16-013: Surface drainage correction requires lane closure on Highway 127 across Wolf Creek Dam

    Jamestown, Ky. (May 20, 2016) – During a road restoration project on Highway 127 over Wolf Creek Dam, contractors found a pocket of voids on Monday at the edge of the roadway, the result of surface drainage erosion. The Corps’ engineers have been on site since then to determine the most efficient and timely solution in order to reduce the extended lane closures currently in effect for the project.
  • NR 14-033: Chickamauga Lock to reopen the end of next week

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 31, 2014) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District plans to reopen Chickamauga Lock to all navigation traffic as early as Thursday, Nov. 6. An inspection of the upper gate anchorage and a repair plan were completed today.
  • NR 14-031: Chickamauga Lock closes for maintenance

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 28, 2014) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District closed Chickamauga Lock to all navigation traffic yesterday after a routine inspection revealed that the anchorage of the upper gate requires immediate repair. The closure is expected to last approximately three weeks.
