    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 5, 2019) – The 10 dams operated by the Corps of Engineers in the Cumberland River Basin performed as designed during the wettest February on record, saving an estimated $1.72 billion in would-be flood damage to the region.

  • NR 18-007: Public invited for J. Percy Priest Dam Powerhouse tour on Stones River

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 22, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District at J. Percy Priest Dam & Reservoir is offering two free guided tours of the J. Percy Priest Hydroelectric Dam in celebration of the reservoir's 50th anniversary. Dam tours will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. There is a limit of 25 people per tour.
  • NR 18-004: Expect higher levels, stronger currents on Cumberland River

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announced today that it expects higher levels and flows along the Cumberland River this week due to releases from Corps dams over the next three days, even though the weather is expected to be dry during this time. The dry weather is allowing the Corps to continue regaining storage in upstream reservoirs. The stage at Nashville will rise approximately four feet from a stage of 31 feet to near 35 feet today and remain elevated through midweek. The flow currently at Nashville is more than 40 million gallons of water per minute.
  • NR 17-39: Road closure scheduled across J. Percy Priest Dam

    (PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION TO DATES OF CLOSURE) NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Bell Road will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from Nov. 6 through Nov. 17, 2017 where the roadway crosses J. Percy Priest Dam. The closure is required for scheduled operational maintenance on the dam.
  • NR 17-022: Lease signed for new marina at Lake Cumberland

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 5, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District held a lease signing ceremony today for the Marina at Rowena, a new commercial concession marina with related facilities and services at Rowena Landing South on Lake Cumberland in Russell and Clinton Counties, just north of Albany, Ky.

  • NR 16-012: Lower water level at J. Percy Priest Lake due to lack of rain

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 19, 2016) – Due to lack of substantial rainfall in the past months, U.S. Drought Monitor classification has much of the Cumberland River Basin including the Stones River Watershed in the Moderate Drought category. Currently, J. Percy Priest Lake’s elevation is approximately three feet below the top of summer pool, and without significant rainfall the lake may not reach its typical summer elevation of 490 feet above mean sea level.
  • NR 16-004: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District updates Old Hickory Lake Master Plan

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 10, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has updated the Old Hickory Lake Master Plan. The 2016 Master Plan, associated environmental assessment, and signed finding of no significant impact are posted on the Old Hickory Lake website.
  • NR 15-034: Bell Road scheduled for closure over J. Percy Priest Dam

    NASHVILLE, TENN. (Sept. 24, 2015) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Bell Road over J. Percy Priest Dam is closing to all traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 6-8, 2015 while maintenance personnel perform a routine inspection of the bridge.
