HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 13, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District at Old Hickory Lake is holding two Shoreline Management Plan Update public workshops this week. The first is Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gallatin High School in Gallatin, Tenn. The second is Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mt. Juliet High School in Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
The purpose of these workshops is to provide lake stakeholders with an opportunity to propose improvements to the current 2008 Shoreline Management Plan.
Biologist Thomas Mason said that public ideas, comments, and requests received at these workshops will help Old Hickory Lake meet their goal of effective and balanced long-range management of the shoreline resources of the lake.
“We have already received over 100 comments and requests prior to the upcoming workshops and will continue to receive requests, comments, and idea during the 30 day public comment period that will end Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014,” said Mason. “While we cannot grant every request, we will ensure that each will be fully and fairly evaluated.”
A draft copy of the Shoreline Management Plan is posted on the Old Hickory Lake website at http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil/Locations/Lakes/OldHickoryLake and will also be available at the workshops for everyone who attends.
Written comments and requests will be accepted at the workshops or mailed to the Old Hickory Lake Resource Manager’s Office at No. 5 Power Plant Road, Hendersonville, TN 37075. All mailed comments and requests must be received by the Resource Manager’s Office no later than Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 to be considered.
Gallatin High School is located at 700 Dan P. Herron Drive, Gallatin, TN 37066 and Mt. Juliet High School is located at 1800 Curd Road, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122.
