Published Nov. 22, 2013

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 22, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District invites the public to attend one of two Shoreline Management Plan public workshops scheduled for Jan. 14, 2014 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Gallatin High School, Gallatin, Tenn. and Jan. 16, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Mt. Juliet High School, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.

The purpose of these workshops is to provide lake stakeholders with an opportunity to propose improvements to the current 2008 Shoreline Management Plan.

Old Hickory Lake Biologist Thomas Mason said that the input received at these workshops will help the lake staff meet its goal of effective long-range management of the shoreline resources of the lake while maintaining a safe and healthful balance of protection and restoration of natural environmental conditions and private exclusive uses of public resources.

“Your ideas, requests and comments continue to help us improve upon the plan. We will be open and fair in our evaluation of all comments, requests and concerns,” said Mason. “While we cannot grant every request, we will ensure that each will be fully evaluated.”

A draft copy of the Shoreline Management Plan will be posted on the Old Hickory Lake website prior to the public workshops at http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil/Locations/Lakes/OldHickoryLake and will also be available at the workshops.

Written comments and requests will be accepted at the workshops or mailed to the Old Hickory Lake Resource Manager’s Office at No. 5 Power Plant Road, Hendersonville, TN 37075.  All mailed comments and requests must be received by the Resource Manager’s Office no later than 30 days after the last public workshop to be considered.
