NR13-035: Volunteers needed for Lake Cumberland Clean up

SOMERSET, Ky. (Aug. 20, 2013) – Saturday, Sept. 21, is the 24th Annual Friends of Lake Cumberland Cleanup. This day has been set aside to remove debris from the lake and adjoining shoreline. 
 
Volunteers and concerned citizens are invited to help clean up trash, old tires, and appliances, etc., that litter the shoreline. Participants should check in on the day of the event at 9 a.m. EDT/9 a.m. CDT at one of the following locations: Grider Hill Marina, Lake Cumberland State Park (Launching Ramp), Conley Bottom Marina, Waitsboro Recreation Area, and General Burnside Island State Park.

After working up an appetite, volunteers are invited to a free cookout with door prizes at General Burnside Island noon EDT and at Lake Cumberland State Park at noon CDT.
