Marker highlights historical relevance of navigation lock
This is an aerial view from an altitude of 1,600 feet of Lock 2 on the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee, May 30, 1940. The general view is seen looking upstream. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District built Lock and Dam 2 at this location to establish a navigation channel. The structure was later replaced by today's modern dams. (USACE Photo)
