Sevenmile Creek Flood Risk Management and Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study

AUTHORIZATION: This project is authorized by Section 1401 (2) of the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act of 2016, (P.L. 114-322) dated December 10, 2016.
TYPE OF PROJECT: Flood Risk Management.
LOCATION: Sevenmile Creek drains a portion of southeastern Davidson County. It originates in headwaters along and near the Williamson County line.
CONGRESSIONAL INTEREST: Blackburn (TN), Hagerty (TN), Cooper (TN-05)
NON-FEDERAL SPONSOR: Nashville; Metro Water Services
IMPORTANCE: This $15.5M project is a significant investment to buy down flood risk in the Sevenmile Creek watershed, utilizing solely nonstructutal measures.
STATUS: The Supplemental Long-Term Disaster Recovery Investment Program (LDRIP) emergency funding bill, passed in July 2018, funded this project for design and construction. Preconstruction engineering and design is underway. A PPA amendment to begin the project was executed in 2020.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
2018 Supplemental Funding provides full appropriations to the project.
2020 Report Amendment revised the scope to the following;
- Buyout-removal of 39 repetitive loss homes. Elevate 17 homes above the 100-year flood elevation.
PROJECT STATUS: To date, acquisition is completed for 20 properties.
