SOMERSET, Ky. (Jan. 17, 2024) – In 1969, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District produced a pamphlet titled “A Vacation Paradise…Lake Cumberland.” Back in those days, there were no smartphones, or portable computers, and Google had not been invented. In fact, the first GPS satellite was not launched until 1978. How in the world did thousands and thousands of visitors find their way to the shores of Lake Cumberland? They followed the signs.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 10, 2024) -- Lionel Fox, electrical engineer assigned to the Electrical Section, is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District employee of the month of October 2023.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the area below Cordell Hull Dam known as the Right Bank Tailwater Recreation Area will continue to be closed beyond the original 90-day goal. Construction work is underway to stabilize the rock bluff below the dam with a contract in place for completion by early summer.
Thirty years ago, Dale Hollow Lake was celebrating 50th anniversary, along with the founding of Friends of Dale Hollow Lake. In the past 30 years, the Friends of Dale Hollow Lake has provided countless hours of service to raise funds, assist in clean-ups and events, and participate in enhancement projects in partnership with the Corps of Engineers.
Fifteen U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District employees graduated from the 2023 Supervisory Training Program in Nashville, Tennessee, on December 13. The program is designed to prepare these supervisors to succeed in their roles, to be effective leaders, and to help them build a “Community of Practice” to work together through issues.
