    Old Hickory Lake shoreline project addresses erosion nearby slave cemetery

    HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (July 23, 2021) – Maintenance personnel onboard the Motor Vessel Iroquois removed vegetation and stabilized a section of shoreline on Old Hickory Lake this week to address erosion issues nearby the historic Rock Castle Slave Cemetery, an important cultural resource in the community.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 20, 2021) – Ryan Johnson, lockmaster at Guntersville Lock in Grant, Alabama, is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Employee of the Month for May 2021. He is recognized primarily for his leadership at Guntersville Lock and as team leader during a repair action at Wilson Lock in Florence, Alabama.
  • Sahl becomes 67th commander of Nashville District

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 1, 2021) – Lt. Col. Joe M. Sahl took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District today during a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee National Guard Armory. He becomes the 67th commander of the “twin rivers” district, commonly referred to as the jewel of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.
