    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces publication of a set of 41 Nationwide Permits

    WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today the publication in the Federal Register of a set of 41 Nationwide Permits (NWPs), to include 40 reissued and one new NWP which authorize work in streams, wetlands and other waters of the United States under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.

  • Willow Grove Marina celebrates 15 years as Clean Marina

    ALLONS, Tenn. (Dec. 15, 2021) – The first Clean Marina flag to fly over any marina in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and Cumberland River Basin was at Willow Grove Marina located on Dale Hollow Lake in Clay County, Tennessee.  Fifteen years later, with long-term family and staff carrying on the effort, Willow Grove Marina completed its recertification as a Clean Marina for a third cycle.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 9, 2021) - Lt. Col. Joseph Sahl, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District commander, met with Project Planning Branch Chief Craig Carrington, Plan Formulation Section Chief Thomas Herbert, and Planning Project Manager Chris Pickering to sign the K.R. Harrington Water Treatment Plant Streambank Stabilization Project Partnership Agreement at the district's headquarters in the Estes Kefauver Federal Building.

Recreation enthusiasts can find up-to-date information about site amenities such as: electric hookups, fees, dates of operation, visitor fees and contact numbers for all 25 campgrounds within the district.

    Chris Clabough, a member of the navigation lock and repair station maintenance force, is named U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Employee of the Month for September 2021. He is recognized primarily for his program improvement efforts while concurrently performing temporary duties as the Diving Safety Instructor supporting Louisville District’s Olmsted Construction Project Office.

    Nashville District works on relationship building with marina stakeholders

(Nov. 17, 2021) – A Corps of Engineers team met with marina concessionaires today to provide updates on programs and processes and to build a better working relationship with open and transparent communication during the Kentucky and Tennessee Marina Associations’ 2021 Annual Meeting at the Sloan Convention Center.

    Aras Barzanji, a hydraulic engineer within the Water Resources Section of the Engineering and Construction Division, is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Employee of the Month for August 2021. He is recognized primarily for his efforts as a team lead responding to the Middle Tennessee Flood in Humphreys, Hickman, and Dickson counties.

    Volunteers clean up Lake Cumberland on National Public Lands Day

    SOMERSET, Ky. (Sept. 28, 2021) – More than 120 volunteers collected 276 bags of trash, 53 agricultural and car tires, old dock flotation, a metal railing with stairs, and a doghouse during a community effort to clean up Lake Cumberland on National Public Lands Day.

As an organization, the Corps of Engineers actively works to recruit, hire, and retain women, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities who have a background in science, technology, engineering, and math.     NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2021) –U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Nashville District employees graduated from the 2021 Nashville District Leadership Development Program II on September 14th. The evening graduation ceremony was held at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

(Sept. 13, 2021) – Tommy Hollowell, quality assurance field lead in the Western Kentucky Resident Office, is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Employee of the Month for July 2021. He is recognized primarily for his efforts to control cost and time growth for the construction of the new Kentucky Lock on the Tennessee River in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
