    The overshot waterwheel at Mill Springs Mill turns while the mill operates during the 18th Annual Cornbread Festival May 28, 2011. There was a large turnout of people to see the mill and enjoy the booths and entertainment by scenic Lake Cumberland.

    Historic Corps gristmill operates during cornbread festival

    MONTICELLO, Ky. (May 28, 2011) – Kentuckians arrived in droves here today at Mill Springs Mill to see the many craft booths, enjoy music performances, and to eat “hoe” cakes during the 18th Annual Cornbread Festival. They also came for bags of cornmeal on sale at the gift shop, and watched as the largest overshot waterwheel in the world turned and ground corn for the masses.

    Laurel Lake Park Ranger gives direction to kids on Career Day

    CORBIN, Ky. (May 26, 2011) – A Laurel Lake park ranger gave direction today to hundreds of fourth and fifth graders on Career Day at Hunter Hills Elementary School.

    Martins Fork Lake overflows with unique park ranger training advantages

    SMITH, Ky. (May 25, 2011) – New park rangers rotate through Martins Fork Lake here on one-year assignments because the 340-acre plot of water apparently overflows with an abundance of unique training advantages.

    Corps teams up with Nature Conservancy on mussel protection, restoration

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 23, 2011) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville and Memphis Districts teamed up today with The Nature Conservancy to sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding that focuses and coordinates freshwater mussel protection and restoration across Tennessee.

    Tennessee governor signs Safe Boating Week proclamation

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 18, 2011) -- Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam held a brief ceremony at the Capitol today to highlight his Proclamation for Safe Boating Week, which is May 21-27, 2011.

Grisoli and Director of Contingency Operations and Homeland Security, Karen Durham-Aguilera, toured the Lake Barkley Dam and Power plant, the Kentucky Lock, the town of Smithland and Paducah, Ky., flood protection barriers, structures and pumping stations along the levees.

    CELINA, Tenn. (May 7, 2011) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District began spilling water today at Dale Hollow Dam on Obey River in Celina, Tenn., to preserve its capacity to store water.
