    District geologists educate Mosul Dam engineers on GIS modeling

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 17, 2017) – Five engineers from the Ministry of Water Resources at the Mosul Dam project in Iraq and one engineer from Trevi S.p.A., the construction company working on the project, recently completed three weeks of training with a U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Data Management Reach Back Team. They learned about a Nashville District developed Mosul Dam Geographic Information Systems model, the GIS software, and the geology model of Mosul Dam.

    Hydropower Optimization increases energy production at Corps plants

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 18, 2015) - Aging hydroelectric generating units operated by the district at Dams in Kentucky and Tennessee have gone well beyond their typical design life of 35-40 years and are in much need of rehabilitation. Engineers at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District are focused on a plan to revitalize and rehabilitate the units in the next 20 years.
  • Corps begins hydropower rehabilitation at Center Hill Dam

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2015) – Disassembly of hydropower unit two is about to get underway at Center Hill Dam, which is the first of 28 units in the Cumberland River Basin to be rehabilitated as a result of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Southeastern Power Administration and power customers signed in August 2011 that provided a funding stream for the work.

    Corps prepares future engineering students at Summer Engineering Program

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 26, 2015) –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District collaborated with the Tennessee State University College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science Department to mentor science, technology, engineering and math students involved in a four-week National Summer Transportation Institute program on the campus of TSU June 22 through July 3.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 16, 2015) – Lt. Col. Stephen F. Murphy took command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District during a change of command ceremony today at the Tennessee National Guard Armory. He becomes the 64th commander in the district’s 127 year history.
