(Oct. 27, 2021)— Antioch Middle School teacher Thomas Yan toured the Old Hickory Lock and Dam, and the Old Hickory Hydropower Plant during the Middle Tennessee Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Innovation Network Externship with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District on October 21-22 to learn what STEM job opportunities USACE has to offer future graduates.

    Nashville District participates in Tennessee State University Career Fair

    In the workplace, diversity is a key asset for success. Organizations that make diversity of background, experience, thought, and culture a priority often create an inclusive environment with increased productivity. As an organization, the Corps of Engineers actively works to recruit, hire, and retain women, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities who have a background in science, technology, engineering, and math. To contribute to this mission and achieve these goals, the Nashville District participates in career fairs hosted by Tennessee State University and other historically black colleges and universities.

    Students connect with Corps emergency managers on Patriot Day

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2015) – Students at Stratford STEM Magnet High School can’t recall where they were when the towers of the World Trade Center fell on 9-11; they were just babies, toddlers or not even born yet. Fourteen years later they spent Patriot Day touring a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Emergency Command and Control Vehicle and learning about that fateful day from a Corps member who deployed to Pier 90 in Manhattan, N.Y., in the wake of the attack.
