    Communities celebrate Cordell Hull Dam’s 50th Anniversary

    ELMWOOD, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2023) – Local communities, residents and officials celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Cordell Hull Dam Oct. 7 by paying tribute to residents that were displaced, featuring historical aspects of the dam’s construction, and noting the benefits that were realized for future generations when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers impounded the lake.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 12, 2019) – Matthew Hubbell, maintenance mechanic at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Cordell Hull Lake Resource Manager’s Office, is the employee of the month for September 2019.

    New Junior Rangers pledge to explore nature at Cordell Hull Lake

    CARTHAGE, Tenn. (Aug. 24, 2018) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District officials held a graduation ceremony for 30 Summer Junior Ranger Program participants at Cordell Hull Lake July 30, 2018. The graduates pledged to explore federal lands, share their knowledge, and work to protect shared natural resources.

    Children ‘Get Outdoors’ with hands on experiences

    CARTHAGE, Tenn. (June 9, 2018) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District park rangers from Cordell Hull Lake held the first annual “Get Outdoors Day” with a “Touch A Truck” event today. The free community event promoted safety and services offered in the surrounding communities by businesses and agencies.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 26, 2017) – Individuals with special needs from the south eastern region of the United States spend time on the mountainous ski slopes every winter thanks to the help of many volunteers. A U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District team member often spends a portion of the winter at an eastern Tennessee ski resort supporting the free ski clinic for dozens of adaptive skiers.

    Marcus Brumbaugh, an electrical mechanic from the Nashville District helps skiers during the 35th Disabled Sports USA Adaptive Learn to Ski event clinic held Jan. 19, 2016 at the Beech Mountain Resort in Beech Mountain, N.C. Since 1981, the adaptive sports program has been offering risk reduced and highly supportive ski lessons for adults and children with a wide array of disabilities.

    Ribbon cutting officially opens up Cordell Hull Lake Visitor’s Center for business

    CARTHAGE, Tenn. (July 20, 2012) – With the sharp scissor cut of a ribbon today, dignitaries officially opened up the Cordell Hull Lake Visitor’s Center and Resource Manager’s Office for business during a commencement ceremony.
