    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 5, 2017) – A group of volunteers partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and helped beautify the Cook Recreational Area facility on J. Percy Priest Lake.

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (March 24, 2017) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, Operations Division personnel who work in or near permitted confined spaces recently went to new depths to prevent accidents by attending permitted confined space rescue training.

    Training simulation rescues dummy to save lives

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (March 30, 2017) – Maintenance workers, mechanics, electricians and safety personnel recently descended into confined spaces deep within Center Hill Dam to rescue a trapped dummy in a training simulation. The group set up a tripod rescue system, placed it over an opening in the power plant floor and used a horizontal lift technique to hoist the mock victim 30 feet to safety.

Percy Priest Lake, Old Hickory Lake, Cordell Hull Lake, Center Hill Lake, Dale Hollow Lake, Lake Barkley, and Lake Cumberland attended a conference March 7-9, 2017 at the Cheatham Lake Resource Managers Office in Ashland City, Tenn. They shared and discussed information on contract procedures, operations, safety, deadlines, timelines, facility upgrades, and use of geospatial and geographic information systems.

    Corps recreation facility managers prepare for another great recreation season

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 24, 2017) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District employees maintain some of the largest and most used recreational areas in the country close by in the Cumberland River Basin, not a simple task. Just like preparing a home, an apartment, or a recreational vehicle for the next season, the key to maintaining facilities at campgrounds is planning.

    Get ready to recreate in Cumberland River Basin

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 13, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s 146 recreation areas, 25 developed campgrounds and primitive camping areas in Kentucky and Tennessee remain quiet, empty and closed, but that all changes this week.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces a new firewood policy is now in effect, and seeks the public’s cooperation to prevent the spread of forest insects and disease at campgrounds in the Cumberland River Basin. The new firewood policy requires visitors at the Nashville District’s recreation areas, primitive campsites and 25 campgrounds to use only firewood that has been certified as heat-treated by U.S. Department of Agriculture or state natural resource agency.

    WASHINGTON (Dec. 16, 2016) - The Department of the Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), today released and is seeking comment on a proposed rule to update and clarify its policies governing the use of USACE reservoir projects for domestic, municipal and industrial water supply pursuant to Section 6 of the Flood Control Act of 1944, 33 U.S.C. § 708 (Section 6), and the Water Supply Act of 1958, 43 U.S.C. § 390b (WSA).

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 26, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers director of Real Estate visited with Nashville District area lakes, recreation areas and a marina concession Aug. 18-19 to learn about the district’s missions and to interact with managers and real estate specialists.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has a new policy that governs the operation and use of recreational unmanned aerial systems (UAS) at all Nashville District lakes within the Cumberland River Basin. The guidance has designated safe locations to fly drones for hobbyists, while at the same time prohibiting drones where people are camping and recreating such as designated swim beaches. The policy also prohibits UAS flights near critical infrastructure such as locks, dams, power plants and switch yards.
