    (PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION TO DATES OF CLOSURE) NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Bell Road will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from Nov. 6 through Nov. 17, 2017 where the roadway crosses J. Percy Priest Dam. The closure is required for scheduled operational maintenance on the dam.
  • NR 17-038: Crossville workshop to address state’s need for firewood producers

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 6, 2017) — An alliance of state, federal and non-governmental partners are hosting a free public workshop 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at Cumberland Mountain State Park in Crossville, Tenn., that will show participants how to develop their own small businesses to sell heat-treated firewood to fill increasing demand at campgrounds in Tennessee.

    LOYALL, Ky. (Oct. 4, 2017) – Engineering efforts by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District are ongoing to design a repair for the slope failure near Wix Howard Cemetery in Loyall, Ky. and prevent any future movement. The design is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 22, 2017) — The staff at Cordell Hull Lake is enlisting the support of volunteers for the annual National Public Lands Day beautification projects 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 30.
  • Army Corps of Engineers waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 30

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that it will waive day use fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches at its recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 30. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities such as group picnic shelters. Other agencies and partners that manage recreation areas located on USACE lands are encouraged, but not required, to comply with this waiver of day use fees in the areas they manage.

  • NR 17-034: Barkley Dam will not reduce discharges as anticipated today

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 14, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District will not be reducing discharges at Barkley Dam today on the Cumberland River in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, as previously announced. The Louisville District reports that the wicket gates at Dam 52 on the Ohio River in Brookport, Illinois, were installed yesterday and navigation is expected to resume at Lock 52 this evening.
  • NR 17-033: Blasting activities at Center Hill Auxiliary Dam extended to Saturdays

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 13, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces construction blasting activities at Center Hill Dam, currently taking place Monday through Friday, will also occur on Saturdays beginning Sept. 16.

    JAMESTOWN, Ky. (Sept. 8, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that traffic crossing Wolf Creek Dam at Lake Cumberland will be subject to one-lane, one-direction control from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 19, 2017 while maintenance personnel perform a routine inspection of the bridge.

    LONDON, Ky. (Sept. 8, 2017) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that traffic crossing Laurel River Dam will be subject to one-lane, one-direction control from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 18, 2017 while maintenance personnel perform a routine inspection of the bridge.
