Marker highlights historical relevance of navigation lock
A derrick boat swings the lock gate into position after painting it at Lock 2 on the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee, Sept. 26, 1940. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District built Lock and Dam 2 at this location to establish a navigation channel. The structure was later replaced by today's modern dams. (USACE Photo)
