The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is once again offering the public free guided tours of Lake Barkley’s Powerhouse, Lock, and Natural Resource Management Office.
The tour dates for 2014 are June 21, July 19, and Aug. 16. Visitors can choose an 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. tour time.
Approximately two hours in length, the tours will begin at Lake Barkley’s Natural Resource Management Visitor Center. After guest check in and a brief introduction, guests will be transported by shuttle to the powerhouse/dam and lock structures. Guiding guests through the facilities, Corps of Engineers’ personnel and volunteers will provide information about Lake Barkley’s unique history, project purposes, recreational opportunities, fish and wildlife benefits, as well as an up-close look of the dam, powerhouse, and lock facilities.
Pre-registration is required for all tour guests (including children ages 16 and under) and all registration forms must be submitted no later than the Wednesday prior to the scheduled tour date. Please note we can only accept applications 30 days prior to the actual tour date.
Tour size is limited and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
